New Years Resolutions!

So I have decided that I should do more realistic New Year resolutions this year. Since last year that is what I did and I actually kept most of my goals. Whereas most years I keep maybe one of them or more like none of them. It's pretty sad, but I decided with my Mom that most resolutions don't happen because they aren't realistic goals. So this year I'm going to follow in the same pattern of last year and make realistic goals! :) So I'm not making known what most of the goals are for the year of 2015, but one main goal is that I decided that I'm going to be a regular journal/blog writer. So don't be alarmed when I happen to have an updated blog fairly often. :D Since I actually know of a website where you can print your blog off of, so it's basically the same as journal writing except that unlike journals there can also be pictures involved.

Stay tuned for more blogs from me! :D

Some interesting facts of the week are that it's super cold here and there is plenty of snow as well. So it's been fun going out in the snow and drinking hot chocolate. :D

Here I am with curly hair for Amanda and Paul's wedding!!!

Marvin and Nelson kissing Amanda good luck possibly!! :D

I've been rather busy with many things during the holidays, in fact I'll have to tell about that in another posting later. But one thing I have done besides the 'snow fun' has also been doing scrap booking and family history. Some lovely pictures I've found have been from family weddings and etc. :)

It's real!!

There is this guy that is super young, probably like 3 or 4 years older then I am whose on the high council in my parents stake. Well he talked at our ward today and told about how he has a hospital related job. And his uncle apparently had a heart attack recently, well I'm assuming it was a heart attack because he said his uncle had 'several cardio lapses'. (I think is what he said) But due to that all the doctors thought he'd basically die, although this guy knew he wouldn't. Not due to false hopes or whatever due to it being a relative, but because someone had given him a blessing basically saying 'you will survive.' And now his uncle is home from the hospital and did not die obviously. But I kind of just had the thought, which he didn't even reference to in the talk at all about. But I just thought 'well the blessing worked because they had faith, but if they hadn't of had faith he could have still died.' So funny enough after church we were watching this movie about this guy named John Tanner. And he had a bad leg basically where he couldn't even really walk. And due to lack of technology all the doctors told him he'd die if he didn't get rid of the leg. Well he didn't want to do it and was basically planning to die, but then met some LDS missionaries. Who wanted him to get baptized and he said that he couldn't get baptized due to his bad leg. Well basically they gave him a blessing and he walked again. (and his bad leg never returned again) Strangely enough the doctors, absolutely none of the doctors could save him. And then through some miracle his leg was saved and he didn't die.

I just thought it was funny that all these faith related stories or talks at church came up today. Just so you all know faith is a real thing and I've never had any form of illness just leave like that. (because I generally have good health) But I've had things happen where I was in a bad situation and someone just showed up that shouldn't have. Kind of like the other day I was driving and basically got what is called 'road rage', because this 4 hour trip turned into 5 1/2 trip. Due to missing an exit on the freeway and then my car decided to be silly, so I was having minor problems with that. But when I was fairly close to my parents house I was sick of the drive and started speeding, but also was distracted due to the problems and I'm blaming it more on that. Haha. :) But funny enough I got pulled over and luckily just got a warning. I'm extremely glad about that. But the funny part was that I seemed to fair alot better after the interruption of getting pulled over. So apparently talking to someone, even if it was a policemen, helped me to lose the road rage. And the drive for the next 45 minutes was much better, so yeah don't miss exits is all I have to say. :) But apparently that saying is true about how God will send you angels to help you in life, although generally in the form of people. :) So I never like getting pulled over, but in this situation the getting pulled over was a good thing.

My point basically though is that faith is real and can seriously help us in life, even if it's not a huge miracle. But even in the minor problems of life and all you need to do is pray, along with having the faith to make the miracles happen. (or receiving blessings)

Thankfulness is Vital!

So I was at my parents ward today and this new family in the ward gave talks. Well at first I was just thinking it was going to be more of the 'introduction' to the ward type talks. Turned out that the kids talks were a little that way. But the mom ended up with lots of time and she actually gave this very profound thankful type talk. At first she was talking about how everyone has a story for their life and so she said that she had some stories to tell about her family. And so she told how when she was 7 or 8 her dad had died. But it was because they'd all been gone for Thanksgiving and her dad was the Bishop, so he came back early for some ward business. Well turned out that there was some poisoning or something like that coming out of the vent. So her dad was the only one poisoned due to being the only one who came back early. Which hugely affected her since she was only 8 when this happened.

The next story was about how her husband had gotten a job with the oil field out in the Uintah Basin and was commuting all the time from Ogden to Roosevelt. (3 hour drive at least) Well they were all going to move out to the Uintah Basin, but after saving for some time it was diagnosed that she had thyroid cancer. Luckily it is the easiest cancer to cure, so she was better within the year I think it was. Well before they could move something else happened, which was that her teenage son started having serious back pains. He wrestled and it seemed like it was connected to the wrestling. Well turned out he had to go to Primary Children's hospital and they found out he had bone infection in his back. (which is not common) So that took alot of time to get better from and then they had to start saving again to move. Well finally after 6 years they're finally moved and her husband doesn't have to commute anymore. (but he had been commuting for 6 years)

If you haven't noticed this seems like a depressing talk and not only that, but she also mentioned that her husband's sister died a year or two again. So yeah it was a pretty depressing talk, but actually the moral of the story wasn't to make everyone depressed.

Because then she went on to talk about how due to these terrible life events she started thinking about it. And came to realize that God isn't going to make everything be bad that happens, so that must mean there is at least a tiny bit of good happening. Well during the last 6 years she's started paying more attention to the good things that might be happening as well as the bad things. Apparently it was a pretty effective theory on life as well, because she managed to survive the terrible trials.

Well I think the reason why I really happened to notice this talk more then others was because I've actually been thinking about this same thing alot lately.

I tend to read alot of pioneer type books and a few years ago I read this book by Janette Okes. (or read it again after 15 years) But I was really surprised to read about how this girl married this guy and they moved west in their wagon. Well due to how far they moved she literally never saw her family again and all they could really do was write letters. Due to it being a novel the author made it so the girls parents happened to save money and visited one time after she'd been married 10 years. But I was so surprised and then realized that of course if you only had a wagon you couldn't move far away and expect to go back. So anyways this story randomly came to me again the other day and so I realized that we're all majorly fortunate to have:

1. Internet (facebook, e-mail and etc.)

2. Cars

3. Phones

4. Airplanes

So technically if we move far away then we really can go back to where our relatives live at least once a year if not more. Meaning due to modern technology we are pretty blessed!

Over the weekend we had a pump problem and didn't have water for almost 2 days. So my Mom and I were doing dishes by boiling storage water. Which means that we're majorly blessed to have electricity and things such as pumps to give us water.

Another common thing that happened back in the day was that people died of illnesses that most definately can be cured now. It's funny but when I go home we tend to watch shows like Little House on the Prarie alot. So anyways I ended up running into some of the seasons at the library since I volunteer there and all. Well I happened to be watching this one Little House on the Prarie episode where Laura's brother died. The symptom's were that the baby was losing weight and none of the doctors could figure out what was causing it. So then the baby died and only lived like a month or so. Another one when Laura was older was about her baby that died due to an unknown cause. Basically the baby died in the night, but now days we'd call it SIDS. (sudden infant death syndrome) So anyways the point being that we are majorly lucky to have modern technology.

But anyways my main thought lately has just been that times might be hard, but there are always things we have that are good. Basically we're never alone on anything and sometimes all we have to do is look around for the good things in life. Since sometimes they'll be there but in a small way, but they are there.

So my challenge to all of you is to be thankful for the good things in life, even when life is harder then hard. And especially now that it's not November I'd say it's still a good time to be thankful!! :D

Thanksgiving!

Well life has been pretty eventful lately! :D Since it's been Thanksgiving I've been in Roosevelt. It's been pretty fun because Marvin and Arie have randomly come around. Although Marvin got stuck fixing pumps and cars half the time. But since he likes cars he probably liked it though. :D But Mother and I were cleaning down stairs and I found some mission stuff, which was fun.

So this is a flag my companion and I made in Puyallup for a zone meeting. The Elders said we were at an Olympics and we all had to have a flag for our team. So we made it like this because the ward in our area was called the 'Sunrise' ward. Well that companion went home and I ended up being in the area longer then her. So I pretty much inherited the flag. :D

Also we've been going walking alot to avoid unhealthy ways since you end up eating alot on Holidays and all. So we've seen some cool sunsets this week as well!

And we've also had no water for two days, so that's been interesting and all. You know kind of like being a pioneer. ;)

Wow!!

It's been all summer since I last wrote!! Well I am currently trying to still get a job at the library, but the only way to make that work is to keep volunteering. Seriously would be nice if they'd be more into the fact that someone is applying with a degree. But of course experience is important too and I just didn't know it while in college. So I am just working at Old Gristmill, which is fine but I want things more related to my major. And so I am going to start subbing with the school district as well. :) It should be fun once I get through the application and everything!

So the bad thing about going to the library a lot is that you end up collecting a lot of books/movies! I've found so many books I'd never heard of and it's just super insane.

I water the library plants and am now finding out the life of plants. Basically if you water them to much they'll die, can you believe that? Yeah luckily I found out from someone that it could be bad to over water plants before any died. Some were starting to wilt though and that's why I asked around about it.

I have decided that I sure am learning a lot of new things this year!!

1. Keeping a car from breaking down!! But of course found that out after it broke down. :/

2. Changing tires on cars, since I've always been lucky and had people to save me on that. But after two flats in a week I had to actually do it one of the times.

3. Some places care more about experience then a degree.

4. Plants will die with to much water. Why is that anyways?

And last but not least I have figured out that if you just stop trying to do everything your own way then suddenly your in the right places every single time. Yeah it's weird, but whenever I try to plan everything most of the time it falls through. But then when I forget about it and go with the flow it suddenly works out better. Why is that? ;)

Life is Ridicules!

Well I didn't get the Library job and mainly was just told that I should keep volunteering. Because people usually get in either through volunteering or library experience. I do want to get in as a Library Tech though and so I guess that I'll keep volunteering. It's annoying since I need the job now, but I guess it's better then having to go pay a ton for another degree.

It's funny that you don't realize it until later. But I didn't realize how tight our apartment was until recently when two of our roommates left for summer. Now two new roommates are moving in and they're cool, but it's sad that the old ones are gone. :( It's fun though because the two new roommates are actually just moving from other apartments in the ward. So we all know each other which is extremely nice.

Hopefully the summer is good, although I don't know where I'll be working at in a month from now. Let's just hope it works out with this Bakery called Old Gristmill, since I'm sure I won't be getting a Library job for awhile. :/ I am lucky though and DI is letting me stay an extra month at the Library, so I at least have that job during May at least.

Nothing to new!

Well my days at the Library are pretty much over, unless I get an official job there. Still waiting on that one anyways. Nothing to exciting going on besides that, other then going to Roosevelt for Easter. It was pretty funny, because there is this 1000 piece puzzle we got at Christmas and I'm the main one doing it. So whenever I'm there I do a part of it, although as of right now the hardest part is all that's left. (so it's a slow process)

So apparently I have a new friend, which is called the fat orange cat who lives at the house across from the temple. It's funny because whenever I walk by it runs over, so apparently it thinks we're friends. :D

Well it's pretty much the end of the semester, so hopefully something turns out job wise. Since it's not like I wanted to stick around Logan, but I do try to follow the spirit and had the impression to stay. So this summer will be interesting is all I have to say.

I do have a neighbor whose moving in and she's been in the ward for awhile. She's hard of hearing and knows asl, so that will be fun. :D

April Fools Day!

Well April Fools Day was rather lame this year. I tried to get people and everything pretty much back fired. The one thing I put on facebook, but at like 11:30 pm the night before just thinking no one would see it for a half hour. Of course people saw it and claimed that I was cheating. Then I tried to trick someone else, but they said I was cheating in that case too. So I decided to stop tricking people, but then I missed the grand opportunity of getting my neighbor. Yeah I'll have to change how I do my April Fooling and just put balloons in the bathtub next year. Haha!

Life is fairly eventful these days. At the library there are some openings, although the job I would be getting is only part time though. So it's kind of annoying. :( But it does pay really good for a part time job and I'm thinking I should still go for it since it will probably be my main chance to get into a library. (since they hire people usually who have experience) The good thing about staying is then I can keep with the asl classes and maybe get good at asl someday. Remember I just said 'someday', yeah languages are very hard to learn is all I have to say.

It's fun because there is an ASL branch here and most of the time I can't go, due to other things I have to go to on Sundays. But it's fun because there is an ASL class during the week that I've started going to. :) It's usually on Wednesdays though, so only an hour a week. But I decided that if I stay in Logan that I should transfer to the ASL branch when I have to leave the YSA ward.

Roommates!

So it's kind of funny but people are always asking me what I do at the Library, since I kind of work there now. And when I tell them I can tell that they're thinking 'that sounds boring', so it's kind of funny that I like working there and all. But it's totally the type of job that organized people like, since it's all about being organized. :) It's not a bad job at all, although I don't know as I'd go do graduate school in related to it. Since I've about decided that sometimes it's more about being experienced in something that helps you in the work force.

But don't worry I don't have to boring of a life, since when you have roommates it's not that boring. So these are some of my roommates: Melanie is in the middle, Megan is the one in the right hand bottom corner with the big eyes, Sarah is behind me and Amanda is the one by her with the glasses. (she was a fall roommate) :) (well that's the bottom left pic that I'm referring too)

This all of us in a serious pose! :)

When I first moved into this apartment there were boy friends involved with roommates and such, so we weren't that tight. But we decided to make a fort one night towards the end of the summer and so it's been more fun now since all the boy friends disappeared. Now though there are boy friends around, but we're better at being tight. (so it's good) Oh but how do you like the name of the fort? (the fent)

Having fun with our lovely fent!! L to R: (back) Me, Sarah and Heather  Front L to R: Megan and Melanie

So interesting fact is that these were summer roommates, although Angela had gotten married by then and moved. But Heather, Sarah and Megan are sisters, although Heather and Megan are the only two who look alike of the three. :) Melanie is the one who works at DI and she told me that she mainly applied there since I got a job there. (so good thing I went back to DI right?)

This is Angela whose with me in this picture and she's the one that I had met like in 2008. She had a twin sister and they'd always been roommates, but her sister graduated and moved. So we decided to be roommates, but by the time we got together she was engaged. :( So we were only roommates during the summer was all.

This was just a random time after an FHE were we went to Charlies and got ice cream. They were attempting to do this thing where they randomly got odd mixes of ice cream. But for the most part they turned out fairly normal, since I think mine was like Cherry and Raspberry.

I guess if you've looked at my pictures on facebook then you should have already seen these, but I figured they'd be good to keep on a blog. (you know kind of like a Journal) Although you might all like it if you had forgotten the pictures since they were put on facebook like a year ago. :)

Interesting fact is that Sarah's hair is not dark, it's actually pretty blonde but she randomly dyed it.

So anyways that was fun, in fact maybe I should put lots of facebook pictures on here and tell many funny stories. :)

Facebook Vacation!

So I kind of stopped blogging since it seemed like I never had very interesting blog posts. And I never had any interesting pictures to put on my blog, since I'm single and have no kid pictures/married pictures to post. But in the last year I've been doing facebook way to much and just realized that blogging is actually the more simplified way of life. It's the people your really friends with who actually look at your blog and your not friends with 600 people. (when the majority are more of fake friends then real friends)

So I decided to go on a facebook vacation and there are some others as well who are doing the same thing. So like with doing a sugar diet you've got to still eat sugar a tiny bit, because if you completely stop then you have problems when you start eating it again. Similar things happen with facebook, since last year I tried to do a facebook vacation. But then I started getting really addicted to it when I started using it again, so this time I still go onto facebook. (only once a week though) It's actually been really, really nice not being super attached to facebook and causes me to have more time for walking, e-mailing my real friends) watching better stuff on-line and etc. It's quite great with the having more time to go walking part, considering it's been great weather lately. :) (since it's March and all)

I know a bunch of others have told me that they're not really happy with facebook these days either. So I have a new idea, which is that every week, or whenever it happens, we should share on our blogs things we've found that are awesome. (through other sources outside of facebook) Then we can share these things on our blogs and we can all get new ideas of what can help us to be more happy through non facebook sources. :) So what do you think? Are you all going to join me on this? I actually have found something recently that is really cool, it's actually a song I was introduced to a few months ago. Then I went and found it on youtube, but it's called blessings and here it is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CSVqHcdhXQ

I like the end of this song where it says that sometimes the trials of this life are mercies in disguise. So as I'm sure everyone knows I find it a huge trial that I never date and that I'm single. (and 30) But I think it's more of a being in Utah thing, you know everyone's married by 25 generally. (and most definately by 30) So I don't know why it would really be a blessing, but I guess that in 20 years I'll figure it out. Haha!

Oh and then I found the story that goes with this song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDiTuSLSJB8

So with her story I like how she says that we are generally given what we 'need', not usually what we want. So for some very odd reason I'm suppose to be on the single list in Utah, very odd but you never know there is probably a good reason for it. I'm pretty sure that most of you out there have some sort of problem, so you should all like this song. :)

The last year of life!

So I realized that I haven't written on this blog in over a year, which is kind of wierd but goes to show that facebook has taken over the world.

Well it turns out that Angela and I moved over to this house at the bottom of old main and were roommates during the summer. But she got engaged on finals week and so her fiancee was around all summer, he was nice so it wasn't bad. As it turned out the person you all know that's in my ward totally just hangs out and we're not even really friends anymore. (so that's lame) But I did end up becoming the relief society 1st counselor in our ward and so that is quite fun. :) Sadly I got poor from buying a car and so I haven't finished the asl classes yet. :( It's rather sad, but I'm good enough to have conversations with people in asl. (so I guess that's good) Isn't it interesting how life never goes how you plan for it to go and that is like never!!

At the moment I'm working at the Logan City Library through DI, so that is really fun and I'm planning to go next week to see if they have any openings. (or just ask them if they will have any openings in the next month) So hopefully that works out, but the only thing with that would be that I'd need to stay in Logan if I got a city job. Like I said nothing goes as planned, so for all we know I'll never end up in Salt Lake. (we'll see though)

The icky part about almost being 31 is that I'll have to go to an over 31 ward and not ysa anymore. Hopefully that isn't to bad, but I can see it being odd with dating anyways. Most likely I'll end up with lots of guys asking me on dates, but they'll all be the DI type. :(

As a side note, this is a pretty funny post to read since it's now 2018. I've been in mid singles over two years and it isn't terrible at all. Guys don't even date for that matter, it's more everyone is just friends so I like it. Also the person in the YSA that I kept mentioning was a guy that I liked. In the end he's still single and hanging out to this day. I think he's realizing that he needs to date though from comments he's made in recent months. So maybe he'll be married sooner then expected.
